Yerp, I agree. I think the Hyundai is much better proposition that medion unless I know medion uses reputable LCD panel from top manufacturers.

I'd love for Hexus to try and review some more of these loe end screens. I think that amongst the bargain hungry geek crowd, this segment is both where the most interest, and the least quantitative information is available; there are generally not many reviews of these screens around, and the model numbers can be all over the place.

Also, a really good article about Sky HD/1080i/p downscaled to 720p, etc, would be great; lots of people are buying these cheap LCDs, and need a bit more info. It would get you a lot of page hits!

second that request, been taught a fair bit of theory, could awnser an exam question on pros/cons of p/i 720/1080 so can tout merrits of 1080, and lust after it, but would love to actually know what the difference is like to an end user who is sitting 2m+ away from the screen, might make me part with some dosh!

Erm scuse me if im dumb

I can honestly say i struggle to understand a lot of terminology and current technology so please excuse me

    My question is -

Im thinking of buying a 32inch lcd hd ready tv and i like the price of the meridion md 20099 but im wondering what is meant by

The only obvious shortcoming we can see is that the set only receives analogue terrestrial TV, rather than analogue and digital, which would be our preference.
i would surely be ok recieving my signal via a sky + box wouldn,t i

A point of clarification for Brewman.

When you connect up an external box - even Sky's non-HD box - you'd typically connect by some form of video lead - totally by-passing the TV set's tuner and ensuring better quality than you'd get if you just connected the box to the TV set's aerial-input socket (presuming, that is, that the box has an RF output suitable for feeding into a TV set's aerial socket).

I bought this tv on the 20th of may, the picture went very strange on the 7th of june.
medion told me a replacement would be with me within 48 hours, it didnt arrive, then they said i would get one the next morning, i didnt, now they say it will be 5 days.
this after a total of 3 calls to the helpline lasting over 1 hour !!
i will be making a formal complaint about their customer service and im off to toys r us tommorow and asking for my money back

my advice is stay well clear of this product

    Thumbs down

Now on my 3rd one of these in 2 months. Great at first then went about 2 colours, next one delivered came out the box like it had been hit by a truck, 3rd one delivered today and it not only rocks backwards and forwards as the legs are bent it's also only displaying in about 250 colours.

Personally the service I've received from Medion direct is first class, it's a shame their delivery and products fail on every count.
