Lordy. Investigating these for work (V Large screens)

We're currently looking at these screens for work - I didn't realise that screens came this big!! Seriously cool bits of kit.

    Panasonic TH-65PV500B - thats a 65" plasma (yes, 65", really)

    Sharp LC65GD1E - this one is a 65" LCD.

I'm now desparately figuring out how I can get hold of one for my desk in time for the world cup....

We've got 3 NEC 50" plasmas in meeting rooms and a Samsung 63" in our boardroom; all run off dedicated Shuttles (ST20G5s). A 65" LCD sounds cool, though.

I just had a quick shufti at the specs on that Sharp; ye gods, man! 65", 1920x1080 - it's a monster (although looking at the prices it's about £10k worth of monster)...

Interestingly - a number of suppliers are currently sobbing into their wallets over the Sharps. We are looking to buy up to 10 of these and apparently Sharp have just withdrawn their screen for "undisclosed reasons".... Sounds like manufacturing problems to me - 65" has GOT to be right at the edge of what you can do with LCD at the moment.

Shame - it is a cracking looking piece of kit. Mind you, 75 Kg of Kit!!!

I think there has been a 100" Samsung, a 102" LG and a 103" Panasonic which is the current leader. These three have little spats like that every now and then

I was staring at the 65" Panasonic the other week in the shop in town. Holy crap it's amazing! I measured it out when i got back to my flat. I could just squeeze it in above my fire place in between the two alcoves

    £8500 wasn't a bad price either...

    Guys guys no no no

    Get a PROJECTOR

£900, 1280x720 LCD, I've got a 80" picture on my wall and a 120" picture at my girlfriend's flat, it's only constrained by how far I can get it from the wall. It's massive, and what's more an excellent picture. You'd need to buy 4 £6k plasmas with 60" diagonals and put all 4 of them in a rectangle to get close to the size of this.

Admittedly, as with all projectors, you need a dark room - but it doesn't have to be pitch black like some enthusiasts have, just dark - and they're not ideal for watching general daytime TV on because the bulb lasts 2000-3000 hours typically. But I've had mine a year, used it far more than I expected to because it's so good (!), watched all sorts of Freeview (including the World Cup), films and played PC games on it, and I've got another 6 years of bulb life to go on this average!

I got a Sanyo Z3, it's been superceded by the Z4. You won't go wrong with that.
