but the curtains must be sorted....I can see light through them! see if yoyu can find black out curtain liners anywhere, it's really dense fabric that you hang on the same curtain hooks, behind the curtains.

a: they stop light and probably radiation from a nuclear explosion
b: they stop the fabric of the curtains fading

essentially the SB2 and SB3 are the same hardware. Some of the capacitors have changed i think and the board was re-designed so the screen is mounted to it and the connectors were turned 90 degrees.

Now some of you may be aware that the Squeezebox 2/3's headphone output doubles up as what they call a "geek port"; meaning you can basically connect to it what you like (switches, LEDs, etc) within the limitations of the firmware / whatever plugins you use. The most common use is to connect an Infrared transmitter and use it to control other components.

I decided to give this a bash, first off using the IR extender thing that came with my Media Center remote, but alas this did not output infrared. I found the remote control for my old telly (which wasn't going to be much use since the telly got scrapped last year), chopped off Media Center's IR bit, desoldered the IR diode from the remote's circuitboard and added it to the end of the wire.
The result:




Now the plugin for Slimserver uses the same .conf files as LIRC (some of you may have used that) and a quick google revealed a LIRC config file for my amp

It works nicely and allows me to control my amp's volume from the Squeezebox remote


Only problem is it doesn't work reliably from wherever I mount it in my cabinet so I'll need to find a place for it!

Don't know if you have got your NAD yet but I would recommend the Cambridge Audio Azur 640c or 540c over it, especially the 640c. I listened to both and the 640c is a far better sounding product. Other than that nice system mate!
