HD DVD recorder, freeview ..... all-in-one

OK, looking to get one of these all-in-one units for my upcoming new entertainment system, but found when it comes to it, I haven't a foggy about them at all.

From the Dixons site, I've found 4:

Forgetting the price and the number of hours it can record, which is the best out of the 4? DivX playback isn't necessary (mpeg may be useful).

One more question, are all these units always hooked up via SCART to the TV?

Next comes the home cinema system. No idea on what I should be looking out for, but for certain want surround sound, and 4 tall boy speakers as I do not want to have to drill holes in walls for brackets for speaker.

Don't need something top of the range, something around £300-£400 mark.

On the Dixons site, there's a few of these that fit the criteria, but which one is best?
