    cable V sky

we've just moved to a cable 'enabled' area, and have subscribed to ntl: (having had sky at our last place) - i've noticed that the picture quality seems to be inferior, and the sound seems to be slightly out of synch... to cap it off, the (cable) phone quality is poor with crackling on the line - am i unlucky or is this just the cable way? i've also gone for the broadband for what it's worth, all for £30/month, so at least it's cheap

I'm on Telewest (same thing, really) and aside from the STB occasionally stuffing itself (usually cured by a restart), I haven't noticed the sort of problems you describe; have you had NTL check the line?

I find the NTL picture quality is not that great, but the phone and broadband are spot on - I'd give them a call, and ask for a line check.

Think they offer a pretty decent service on their 3 for £30.

i used to have cable and could not tell the difference in picture quality between that and sky, apart from the sound being out of sync everynow and then but like nichomach said its easily cured with a restart!

never had the problems you're having (apart from the sound sync which a power of on of the box sorts) On the picture front I find it to be better then the Picture my sis in law gets from sky. Especially in wet and windy weather.
BB always been fine. As has phone neer had a crackle once. Could be guy who wired the socket up arsed it. Get it checked.
