    Improving macro on my Cam

Hey I have only recently picked up photography and already I am finding I love it. I started off with just a basic camera just to see if it was something I wanted to get into. I bought my self a kodak z730, managed to find it factory reconditioned for 80 pounds on ebuyer. Had some features i liked like 4x optical zoom which seemed quite good for this price range... Anyway! Enough about the camera. At the moment my favourite kind of photography has to be the macro stuff. I don't want to fork out on a better camera until I am sure photography is something I want to carry on with. Anyway my cameras macro ability seems a bit limited, I can produce some ok images with it:

Just wondering if there was anyway I can improve the macro on the camera without spending too much money.

    Cheers for any help.
    Ben

    Ah nice, thanks very much.

Found these for sale at the moment, these likely to do what I want without ruining picture quality too much?

Can anyone explain what 1+ 4+ macro etc is?

    Thanks

take the picture of ur Butterfly - then multiply it by the amount ie if you took the image and magnified it by 2x you'd have the same as your +2 etc..

u might get a little distortion - but without shelling out for a DSLR + Macro lens, its the best option available to you atm..

what they do is allow you to focus much closer than you normally can, they also remove the abilty to focus to infinity ,and reduce the depth of field.

there are also 2 types of macro filter, the cheap single element ones that are mainly of poor quality especially the high diopter ones and then the high quality achromatic ones, these comprise of 2 elements and are a lot better quality but also cost more.

    --
    according to kodak

How large do objects viewed with an 8-diopter lens appear?
Use this simple formula to determine the degree of magnification: diopters / 4 = power. Therefore, an 8-diopter lens / 4 = 2X, or twice as large.
