ARGH! HX620 PCI-E Cable and 8800GT - Clip too thick?

    Hi guys

Gone to plug my PCI-E cable from the PSU into the 8800GT and I noticed the clips are different thicknesses at either end? The narrow clip 'clicks' onto the card, but then the thick clip doesn't go into the PSU.

The narrow clip 'clicks' into the PSU, and the connectors go all the way into the 8800GT, but the clip doesn't 'click'

    Is this normal! Thanks!

As long as the plastic retention tab holds the plug securely, the "click" is not important.

Thanks, just making sure I'm doing it right, I could file it down so it's thinner?

LOL....that should not be necessary. As long as it is secure, it works, and does not fall out or pull out easily, then you should be fine. IMO, this falls into the "if it is not broken, don't fix it" category.

    Thank you very much

I've just booted my system up after 3 days of hard working setting it all up, and I am so proud of it, it is the best thing I have ever bought!

This PSU is absolutely fantastic, loving the pouch for spare cables.

    Thanks,

    Toby

No problem, I've already made a couple of my mates who are building buy HX series PSU's over Hiper units!

This one confused me for a couple of minutes as well, I put the PSU end into the GFx card and wondered why I couldn't secure the other end to the PSU.

It wasn't until I looked closer and noticed that one end was a 6+2 configuration and remembered Corsair had done this for the HD2900 series cards that I got it sorted.

Still other than that tiny mix up, the PSU is working great, right now I can't hear anything from my PC over the general sounds of the house (heating etc)
