I used this with 4 DIMMs; with two DIMMs all I have to change is the voltage to 2.0v and it is totally stable.

Could it be the mother board?

Yes, have you tried 4 DIMMs at DDR800 or even DDR667 to see if the board will run them at all 4 up? You may simply have a weak MOBO or even a weak PSU. It's hard to tell really. However, a Striker "should" run 4 DIMMs at DDR800. You may want to check with ASUS to see if they can help.

    Hi mate,
It looks like it will run 4 DIMMs at 667 but not 800. I hope my power supply is OK, I think it is because I get the same results with 1 GPU and the memory as I do with 2 GPU's, 1 SB card and 4 disks. If it was the PSU do you think that removing the other components would compensate for the extra DIMMs?

    thanks

Based on your last post, I would not suspect the CPU. That board should run 4 DIMMs at DDR800. Did you find the vFSB option? I think that adjusted with the NBv will get you to 800.

    Hi there,

Not yet has vFSB got another name?

This is what is under "Over Voltage"
    Memory Voltage
    1.2V HT Voltage
    NB Core
    SB Core
    CPU VTT
    DDR2 Controller Ref Voltage
    DDR2 Channel A Ref Voltage
    DDR2 Channel B Ref Voltage

    Thanks

Try the NB Core at = 1.35 and the CPU VTT = 1.45.

That is even closer, Linked 3:2 - 711MHz. 800MHz gives memtest errors straight away.

    thanks

Try UNLINKED and set the memory speed manually to 800mhz.

Hi there, Nope 800 MHz unlinked, just wont work but 711 ran for 7:30 under memtest.

    thanks

Hmmm....well, if you want/need 4gb of memory then you may need to go to a 2 x 2gb kit. However, that MOBO "SHOULD" run 4 up at DDR800. You may want to contact ASUS unless buying more RAM is a realistic option for you.

    Hi there,

I have had a reply from Asus and they say that you can use 4 DIMM's of PC2-6400 running at 800MHz or 2*2G memory. I think that I will RMA the MB as a voltage problem. I will try my Tagan 580watt PSU to see if there is any difference.

    Thanks for all your help.

Hi mate, Just an update. I have my new MB in place and.......... It is still the same. So I am not sure that it supports 4 DIMM's at 2.1 / 2.1v. Have you tried this combo in your labs?

We have run more than 1 Striker in our demo systems with 4 DIMMs, all of them OCed. I have no clue at this point what your issue could be unless it is your power supply.

Also, I realize that you are attempting to run the RAM at DDR800 for now as opposed to DDR1066 but, I would suggest using 2.2v as that is what the memory is tested with.

You may want to Google for some other Striker users and see if you can find some with 4 DIMMs and see if we have missed something.

    Re: CM2x1024-8500C5D and Asus Extreme

    Hi there,
Lxtwin, I'm not sure if you ever solved your problem with your memory but I had the same problem with my Striker Extreme and 4gb of CM2X1024-8500C5D.

I currently have them running stable @ 1066 Mhz for the past 3 months (entire time i've had them)

    My settings are as follows,

    Timings 5 - 5 - 5 - 18 - 2T @ 2.2v

also, UNLINK the memory from the FSB and increase the actual memory clock from 800 to 1066. This should open those babies up. I once did a mem test on these settings and it ran for 24 hours no problem.

It's fantastic ram, don't bother buying anything else, just keep forging on until they work!

    Re: CM2x1024-8500C5D and Asus Extreme

Hi mate, In the end I sold the memory and purchased 2 x 2 GB DIMM's. These work well but are not as quick.

    Cheers.
