would using one stick at 512mb ram and one stick at 1gb of ram (ddr2) be compatable?
if this is not wise could you let me know worst case scenario please.

Nope the mobo requires DD3 ram which is horrendously expensive when available.The mobo will accept up to 8 GB ram.
