    Corsair Cm2x1024-8500c5d failing

    Hi,

I purchased a pair of corsair CM2x1024-8500c5d/xms2-8500 - 1024mb - 1066mhz - 5/5/5/15 xms8505v1.2 (07311507) last year (7th Sept. 2007) and I've never run Memtest until today and it failed on those 2 sticks of ram. On reboot Vista 64 memory test fails also, this is with the ram set to 800mhz & timings set to SPD in the bios and running 2.2v.

My motherboard is an Abit IP35Pro v1.0 running bios 14. CPU Intel Q6600 I have the latetst updates applied to Vista 64.

Northbridge & Southbridge volts were upped as was the memory controller....

Can you let me know if I should return this?

    Many Thanks,

    Graham.

Are you having stability issues? Why are you running Memtest?

Thanks for responding. I believe so as I've had the BSOD death whilst multi-tasking (Lightroom/Transcoding and itunes on the go). My system was working ok with 8x400 (3200) ddr2-800 on 1:1.00 prime95 for 8hrs. I wanted to increase it's performance so went gradually to:

    378x9
1:1.20 (ddr2.907) Using 4x1gb of Corsair Dom. 1 set at 2.15v the other at 2.2v.
    DDR2volt - 2.225 (showing as 2.2 in Everest.)
    CPU VTT - 1.23v
    MCH - 1.37v
    ICH - 1.15v
    ICHIO - 1.60
    DDR2 Ref Volt - +2%
    C1E - Auto
    EIST - Disabled.

This worked fine with Prime95 small FFT - but failed Blend. I then ran Memtest which failed and then Vista 64 Memory Test, that also failed.

I removed one set of ram same settings as above apart from lower DDR2 Volt. no errors. Exact same method for the other set and it failed...

I'm all tested out tbh, any advise will be welcome!

    Thanks.

I realize it is tedious but, test each module at its stock speed and rated voltage with Memtest for 3-5 passes each. Let's see if you have a bad or failing module and then go from there.
