Question 12GB (6x2GB) Running at 1033/1600 in Asus P6T Deluxe

They really should make this RAM stuff simple

I have a Asus P6T Deluxe board that came bundled with TR3X6G1600C8D (3x2GB XMS3 Dominator Memory 1600Mhz). I bought another TR3X6G1600C8D kit about 6 months back. The numbers on the 2nd kit all match the first apart from the serial numbers of course.

Its been running ok, but I recently noticed on a reboot (very rarely reboot) that the memory is running at 1033MHz on the BIOS post screen. If I check the DRAM setting in the BIOS to 1600MHz and reboot nothing happens, until I reboot and re enter the BIOS and change back to Auto.

Is it possible to run 6x2GB TR3X6G1600C8D at 1600MHz on the P6T Deluxe? I'm guessing as the BIOS is set to Auto for every memory option this is probably not possible.

    Thanks for any info.

If it is bothering you enough I suggest setting the timings manually.

If I'm not going to see much of a difference from 1033 to 1600 I won't bother messing. Like I said when I changed DRAM to 1600 it does nothing and I have to reset a few times to change it back.

Tbh unless you are into benching you are unlikely to notice any day to day difference running at the slower speed so if you want leave it be.
