    Unsure on memory upgrade for my rig

    Hey guys!

    Its almost that time of the month when i have penny's available for upgrades and ive been looking at 8gb of ram for my new rig.
    My question is, do i have any constraints in which ram i can use with my setup;

    MSI H55M -ED55 motherboard
    I3 530 Processor

    Ive looked through the mobo specs on MSI website and it states i can use 1066/1333/1600/2000/2013 Ram but 1600 - 2013 through Overclock. Currently my i3 is clocked to 4ghtz but according to Bios my ram is clocked slightly higher from 1333 to around 1410 mhz.

    Im still trying to get to grips with overclocking fully but i dont want to sink 40/60 quid on some new ram to find i carnt use it fully or whatever.

    Which ram would you Hexus users recommend for such a setup?

    Ive had my heart set on some Corsair dominator ram since it looks so bad ass. but should i be looking for 1333mhz duel channel kits or 1600mhz kits?

    Any advice would be very appreciated

    You could use DDR3 1600, however, it will only register at the 1600 speed if you overclock it in your motherboard, otherwise it will just run at the maximum unclocked speed of 1333 that your motherboard supports.

    will clocking the ram to the full 1600mhz speed cause any other issues in my rig?

    would you personally recomment 1600mhz ram with the overclock or should i just get 1333mhz?

    Thanks for the replys. some very useful information in those links too.

    I think for looks sake i would go for the normal vengeance ram over the low profile stuff. I should be able to achieve 1600mhz if i manually input the rams settings into my bios is that correct?
    changing the timings and voltages to the manufactures specifications?

    Yep,just apply correct dividers etc etc.RAM with XMP will help you there without all the effort though if your unsure.
