In our case at least the rule of thumb is IF 1 is to 1 is available, our customer service will offer you the exact same SKU. Otherwise, whatever's the most comparable to the item you're RMAing.
That may be true but god forbid if you didn't keep that receipt for it...bought a dual channel Vengeance kit back in 2011 and started having issues with it recently..had a ticket created for RMA and said no longer had original invoice (it's been over 6 yrs and 2 moves later) and I have been refused RMA..if I take my car into a dealership for warranty work, they look at build date, run the VIN to make sure no blocks, and then warranty work is done..no receipt is required...I just got a WD NAS hard drive replaced under warranty..bought back in 2013..couldn't find the receipt and still, WD replaced it.
That's why i always try to keep a digital copy of my receipts. Both on storage media and on the cloud. Don't forget that insurance companies can also insist on receipts for claims.
Never had insurance ask for a receipt due to the fact the company replaces with now pricing, not when purchased..only thing is they wanted a brief list of my things along with serial number.
Same should take affect from Corsair..serial number is there for reason. But according to them, having purchased the ram over 6 yrs ago, but having a copy of my receipt not readable or not around..too bad so sad for me.
Hi,
I recently used the lifetime warranty. Its real.
I had no receipt for 4x16gb 3333c16 ram and one stick failed, free rma process.
After sending photos they sent me 2x32 3600c18, I complained about the fact i had quad channel before and after a few emails they sent me another 2x32gb.
I'm happy with that.
Highly recommended from me.
Some companies like to use the term "Limited Lifetime Warranty"... That's when you need to read the small print. Corsair warranty is fine though.
Wow that's some amazing customer service! :O
