I have 4x4GB sticks of RAM in my machine. However in BIOS it only see's 8GB total. CPU-Z and BIOS SPD info both show 4 sticks of 4gb ram installed.
RAM passes memtest. All work separately and in every DIMM slot. 1 Sticks gives 4gb max, 2 gives 8gb, 3 gives 8gb, 4 gives 8gb. No way around it capping at 8GB. I have tried manual timings and resetting bios and updating it.
I am assuming then my memory controller on my i7 has failed somewhat (despite intel diagnostic showing a pass). If so, would 2x8GB ram work in my machine? If the memory controller can no longer run more than 2 sticks. If there's no true evidence of the memory controller failing. I assume there's nothing I can do about it.
Any thoughts on this bug would be appreciated.
