    Mobile CPU. I7-2640M(2.8) OR i5-2520M(2.5)

    Morning all.

I'm looking at a laptop and can't decide if the i7 is worth the extra ~£50 it'll cost.

The laptop will be for gaming (please dont mention a desktop.....seriously) and I'm aware that the primary bottleneck, by a huge margin in a laptop is typically the graphics card...so I guess my question is do I risk putting the bottleneck on the cpu rather than the gfx?

In terms of graphics cards, I'm planning on either a GTX 670m or a GTX 675m, for reference.

I'm not a Laptop expert but I'd say spend the money on the best screen and GPU available.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Depends on whether you can spend that £50 for a better GPU in the laptop. The only difference between those two processors are that the i7 has a slightly higher clock speed and a larger L2 cache (3MB vs 4MB), so the difference in performance won't be massive.

But if it's the same GPU in both models, and just the processors that differ, I'd say push for the i7 (but that's because I like the latest and greatest ).
