Re: Sempron X2, a new overclocker toy?

The Athlon era was fun while it lasted still not bad chips, I used a Athlon II X3 not long ago for a previous build and it coped really well.

Ran games no problem and was fairly snappy, so at £30 you've got a nice little dual core for light tasks and users on an extreme budget. Consumes little power too.

Even though Semprons are another way of saying the Athlons that didn't make it, there's something appealing about the little fellas

The A4-3300 is basically the same processor but with a HD5450 fused on the same piece of silicon, and is also a shade under £30. So that's a £30 CPU and a £30 GPU for £30

The Sempron would overclock better of course, because the higher level of integration on the APU means there's more factors to limit overclocking, but none-the-less an A4-3300 + cheap FM1 motherboard + 4GB DDR3-1600 memory would make an incredibly competent base unit for ~ £90

Even better, that's a bargain! They can't be making much profit off a chip like that though, surely?

I have no need for one of these, but I want to buy one anyway.

    God I hate unnecessary bargains.
