First couple of Blue Screens in a while. CPU or GPU?

I got a blue screen a couple weeks back. Totally forgot what messages came with that one and I think I accidentally deleted it with a registry clean or something so can't check the details. Then today I got another one which had a message I am oh so familiar with. The one about a clock interrupt. Can't tell you how many times I saw that in the process of overclocking my 2500K..... Did my OC early last year. Passed a custom 18+ hour prime95 blend test and it's been apparently solid ever since.

So, my first thought was running blue screen view and looking into what voltages I needed to mess with to get my CPU stable again. But then I noticed something about this blue screen error. Something I also saw at the time it happened without even checking it through blue screen view. The cause was apparently "nvlddmkm.sys". That's an Nvidia service. My GTX 670 is factory Overclocked. Never messed with it myself. Now I know it's possible that's become unstable but I'm inclined to blame Nvidia drivers. They've been really, really sketchy since 310.90. I uninstalled all Nvidia stuff n did some registry cleans etc today. Reinstalled the latest 320.00 drivers and hoping it's alright. If not I will go back to 310.90 AGAIN! Lol...

But what I'm really wondering here. Is can that clock interrupt message be caused by anything other than the CPU? I assumed so due to it mentioning "nvlddmkm.sys", but I'm not completely sure. I don't want to be wasting time messing with GPU drivers if it is just my CPU afterall. But likewise, I really don't want to be playing with my CPU OC, running extremely time consuming stress tests if it's just a crappy Nvidia driver that's causing it....

Hope you guys can help me out here! Thanks!

Yes, driver would be my first candidate. I would not suspect CPU at all unless you see other stability problems unrelated to the nvidia driver files.

Well that makes me smile A dodgey driver is usually no big deal! CPU overclocks are a bloody nightmare sometimes though!
As I said - I forget what the first blue screen said. But I will keep an eye out next time!
I was just so used to seeing that message during the lengthy process of overclocking my cpu. I wasn't even sure it could mean anything else. Maybe Nvidia crashed my cpu? :/

I think your CPU an / or GPU is overheating. What's your cooler on the CPU and the temps on both the CPU and the GPU.

No that's definitely not anywhere near happening unless my software is giving bad readings! When I ran a custom 18 1/2 hour prime95 blend test with 99-100% ram usage my cpu hit 55c max according to my mobo software, and 60c according to real temp. I check the Asus sensor recorder graph after gaming or anything stressful sometimes and it barely even touches 50c most the time. It's sitting at 25c right now just doing web browsing stuff. It's on a Corsair A50 btw.

As for the gpu, well that's got a windforce x3 on it. I've always used the stock auto fan profile with it. And the worst I've seen it hit was 62c when I ran furmark just the once after buying it to see what score I'd get. I check it nearly every day with msi afterburner to see what the max temp has been, and even after gaming it normally doesn't go above 60c. Right now it's sitting at 29c.

I'm not ruling out the possibility of bad readings, but I just don't think it's the case. Nvidia drivers have been pretty terrible for me after 310.90. I am hoping it's just that. But if you have any other idreas then I'm open Thanks!
