    Temps for 4770k ?

    Recently upgraded my CPU, HSF, Mobo and RAM.

    Was wondering if i'm getting the sort of temperatures i should expect at stock speed, i've been out of the hardware 'game' for quite a while so i'd have no idea.

    Kit:

    - Intel Core i7-4770K
    - Asus Z87-PRO Z87
    - Corsair Hydro Series H80
    - Silverstone FT01

    Idle:

    100% Load (20 mins of Prime95 Small FFTs);

    That's about right for an i7. Nothing to worry about.

    Shouldn't be expecting better out of a H80 with a 4770K then?

    Depends on quite a few variables. Fan speed on the H80? Those temps are pretty much what I've seen with other stock i7's and a h80 on quiet mode(This is default IIRC) and are you overclocked? Those will 2 will have the biggest effect.

    Aye, just as Skull says.
    Even adding or removing a FAN to your case or changing the speed of the current ones can result in a few degrees difference.
    I would say till 70 you are all righ (under full load).

    Re: Temps for 4770k ?

    Thanks chaps, well last 1-2 days i've been having a tinker. I also have a Silverstone FT02 arriving this week, decided to retire the FT01.

    I installed AI Suite III for the Asus board, i then updated BIOS and used the software to OC it.

    I used the most modest OC tuning, which push it to 4.2ghz and i noticed temperatures were around what i had at Stock. Which was bizarre. During their 'extreme' tuning it went to 4.8ghz, i didn't feel comfortable with that though.

    I decided to reset the BIOS settings back to optimized defaults and see what what my temps were at stock, i set the H80 to performance mode.

    Seems to now be better, with temps in line with hard HardOCP got on a 3770K at stock.

    http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/...ooler_review/4

    Idle (15 mins)

    It had a spike of load for some reason, so max temps are not reflective. It pretty much stayed around mid to low 20s for the entire run.

    100% Load (15 mins of Prime95 Small FFTs);

    Generally stayed around 49-50 for the entire run.

    Sub 70's is fine, esp as we are having this warmer weather. The chip won't start throttling back until 100 anyway

    Re: Temps for 4770k ?

    Those temps look good, my neighbours H100i wasn't much better, although the corsair AP fans ( the ones with the removable colour rings) were a huge upgrade over the ones that came with the H100i which are loud as hell!
