    Question AMD Kaveri

I am sure that many of you by now have read the recent Kaveri related post here on Hexus. Good news imho. Anyway I was wondering what you Hexus community followers would speculate performance wise of the top level A10 APU in relation to say the FX6300?

I ask because I am currently in an upgrade rut and as an AMD fan my choices aren't that obvious.

So upgrade now to an FX6300 (on a dying AM3+ socket) or wait for the top spec A10 and pair it with a brilliant MB (longer lifespan)?

Bare in mind that the new 8 core consoles WILL have an impact on thet multi-threading abilities of games BUT they are also substantially weaker that high end CPU cores.

I'm concerned with performance as a CPU primarily as either APU/CPU will be paired with a R9 280X (or higher)

But of course comments regarding GPU performance (hybrid/crossfire) are welcome!

I will ask, please no haters/trolls/intel fanbois, but obviously most do not adhere to such a simple request

We don't know, the details released so far are sketchy at best and generally contradicting.

When parts do come out, they will probably be scarce for another month or so and hence priced higher.

It sounds like you have to wait 2 months to find out. If you can't wait that long, then get the FX6350.

A fair point. I'm currently using an Oc'd 955BE (3.6 on a BeQuiet Topflow). I'm not in a major rush to upgrade as I mostly play Skyrim (modded Ofc) though I do want to give my MSI GTX 660 OC the boot

I'm keen to find out about this CPU as well, although I'm a bit disappointed there are no FX series CPUs on the roadmap at all this year

If you are in the market for an FX CPU, then Kaveri isn't going to be for you.

Lack of L3 cache and higher clock frequency will make the FX8350 faster in single threaded use, and in multi-threaded having double the cores is going to trounce a tweaked instruction decoder.

    Re: AMD Kaveri

I would say if you have even the slightest intention to have a dedicated GPU then an FX will be always better for you that an APU. APUs are great due to the respectable IGP (as far as IGPs go).
