Is a fx6300 a worthy upgrade to a phenom II?

    Hello Hexus folk,

    Just a quick one,

Would you say that a FX6300 is a worthy upgrade to a Phenom II (960T)? My system isn't particularly sluggish but the price of this chip seems reasonable now and my current CPU is actually a bit botched since I snapped a pin and bent a few others when taking off my heatsink which apparently welded itself to the cpu last year.

I mean would I notice any benefits whilst gaming/ general computing (I use digital painting software a lot).

Or would I be better off waiting for a new round of AM3 chips to arrive and get it at an even lower price?

    All the best,

    Richie

As a current FX6100 user, I would also be interested in hearing people's opinions on this.

    This give's you a general idea !
I have a 6300 but i don't overclock as i'm just happy as it is when it does its boost mode thingy to 4.1GHz..
Plays BF3 Arma3 very well as well as other games and the price is good bang for buck in my eye's
I'm sure you will get some more professional opinion but this is my humble Mr Average opinion ....

CPU Boss gives it to the 6300 by a landslide - ie it's better in every way. Well, bar a slightly bigger L3 cache (1.5MB/core vs 1.33/core).

Re: Is a fx6300 a worthy upgrade to a phenom II?

I have one and I'm delighted with it so far. Bang for buck, it came highly recommended - I have since OC'd to 4.5 and haven't seen it go above 40% load except in Benchmarkings!
A second build I'm doing will have a Phenom II, so I'll do a comparison, if you like?
