i5 4670K CPU cooler, looking at some new coolers, opinions wanted

    Hi all

Im building a PC for someone and have everything decided but the cooler.
Im after a budget cooler, less than £30 preferably.
I am planning on over clocking the 4670K up to between 4.0-4.5Ghz depending on voltage required for the chip I get.

I was looking at coolers and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and the Cooler Master Hyper 412S seem popular.

I then have seen two new coolers. The Raijintek EreBoss and Deepcool Lucifer (see links below)

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...30&subcat=2666
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=HS-005-DC

They both have 140mm fans, that are rated quite quiet that is good and are both big, which is generally a good thing for cooling.

I have seen a couple of reviews but there are not many. Anyone know much about them and would recommend them, as they seem really good value? Do you think they will out perform either the Hyper 212 EVO or 412S?

    Any other recommendations are welcome

Everyone goes for the hyper 212 evo because it is a great cooler which is very cheap. Bangs per buck it's probably the best

The Arctic Cooling i30 also does very well in most 'bang for buck' comparisons:

    I use this cooler though:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/therm...66-amd-am2-am3

It cools extremely well, but is a bit outside your budget. It's also physically very large...not that many cases will fit

Hey fallen, yea the Raijintek EreBos does look nice, i was also looking at thermalrights true silver 140 bw (£30 on amazon) and some of a Alpenföhn's coolers (brocken/Matterhorn etc..) Some though, from what i read don't come with extra pins for a second fan, so best to check that out really too (oh and some of these are huge, to fit in a case )

Hey jimbobgod! That macho is well nice, even bigger than the true spirit The one thing i'm not fond of with arctics (could be wrong) is not being able to replace that fan if it died, but i might not have read up enough on it to make sure!

Yep, the 'Macho' is well named It only just fits in the FT02 case of mine; in fact were I not to have the windowed version, it probably wouldn't fit at all.

The fan on the i30 is easy to replace - it's held in place by a plastic shroud:

Re: i5 4670K CPU cooler, looking at some new coolers, opinions wanted

Well, EreBoss can cool very close to the EVO while being quieter apparently (FrostyTech Raijintek Ereboss Heatsink Review).
On the other hand, www.******.net EreBoss review states in conclusions that struggled when overclocked. So hmm.

EDIT: for some odd reason, the forum doesn't allow me to write v o r t e z, and it just replaces it with starts... Anybody?

Hey Bonebreaker, ah that's cool i was checking out those coolers so thought i'd post them up, the hyper evo is a steady, tried and trusted one. I noticed on some of them you only had 1 set of clips for a fan&was finding it hard to find clips if you wanted a second. A bit mixed on the ereboss then, hmmm.

That single set of clips is a very fair point, too bad that Xigmatek Thor's Hammer S126384 W is not available on eBay for the £15.99 sell off price.

I always have some spare clips left if you would be interested and they're would be compatible. Otherwise Mr.Rubber-band and Dr.Cable-tie are pretty helpful too.

I will be purchasing the 212 EVO from a friend as he ordered that as well as a H100i for some odd reason, haha. That i30 does looks promising though.. May have to give that a thought!

I hope you find the right cooler for you Bonebreaker, but I would personally go for the 212 EVO (as you already know, it is tried and tested - proven to be pretty damn good).

I do appreciate but I am very happy with my passive Xigmatek Thor's Hammer. Idling around 30 degrees. And the FANs on minimum RPM. I don't need more cooling power. Too bad I can't lower the XFX 450W PSU FAN speed any lower.

The Ereboss is brilliant, but massive and it might cover your first PCIE slot. There are loads out there, some other Rajintek coolers are very good also.
