CPU upgrade. X3 720

I currently use an AMD X3 720, with a slight OC, but its not stable if I unlock the 4th core. Currently struggling with BF4, CPU is maxed out most of the time. Temps are all fine.

MOBO is a gigabyte GA-970A-UD3, PSU is reasonable, and 8 GB of RAM.

So are there any particularly good deals out there on AMD CPUs for around £100ish. Main reason is games.

I think you have an AM3+ mobo so that leaves plenty of scope, you could go all the way up to an FX8320 and still keep the price to below £100 just make sure you have the correct firmware before swapping the CPUs over. Alternatively for an extra £20 you could get the FX8350.

Get the FX 6300 - £71.52 from Amazon, best bang for buck budget CPU, then over clock the pants of it.

Cheers all will have a ponder. Shame I couldnt unlco the 4th core on this one and run it stable.

An FX6300 or FX8320 should be a decent upgrade. One of my mates had a 4GHZ Athlon II X3 and he replaced it with an FX6300 which both at stock and overclocked was faster in many games.
