AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I am making my first budget pc build and I am atm pretty much set on the FX 8350, but I was still looking and discovered the i5 3570k. I've been looking at reviews on YouTube and stuff, comparisons and likewise but some benchmarks differ to other people's. I would like a bit of backup on which to choose as I will do recording for YouTube, editing, rendering and gaming ect. I mentioned the i5 4670k because I just saw that it was a similar price point to the 3570k but I don't really know anything about it.
Which do you guys recommend and why?
(Ignoring the price differences for comparison purposes)
EDIT: I have chosen the FX 8350

It depends on your total budget though - an FX8320 is only £100,but a Core i5 4670K is generally faster overall if you take games based on older engines into consideration.
AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I've looked at the 8320 but I would prefer to go with the 8350, as I don't plan to OC too soon so would go with a higher stock clock. So is the 4670k faster than the 3570k? And as you said they have higher FPS in older engine games but what about newer releases or future?
(And I can't afford an i7)

This is a Core i7 without the IGP and cannot be overclocked:

However, what is your entire budget though??
What games do you intend to run??
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
Well my budget for the CPU is £165 MAX. That's stretching already for me. :0
Run games like Battlefield 4, COD, and some more single threaded like Minecraft and World of Tanks typo thing.
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I think we would need to see the entire proposed build to really give an opinion. It needs to be a holistic approach, with an eye to what you might want to upgrade in the future because some people like me tend to replace bits constantly and some like to build and leave it be for 3 years.
For example, if you already have a 7950 card to use then we will advise going high with the CPU, but if you are planning to purchase something like a GT630 then we would probably tell you to drop the CPU down to an FX6300 and put the money into better graphics.

What does a holistic approach mean?
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I'd go for a I5 4690 if your're not looking to OC. If you are intending to OC what cooler will you be using?
AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I'm not really thinking about OC'ing now so haven't given any thought to coolers.
I heard that the 3570k is a better overclocker than the 4670k but the 4670k is a better stock. True?
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I'd go for 8350 and spend more on a better GPU.
The i5 is faster and will be better for games that are poorly optimised, but you'll be able to spend £40-50 more on the GPU, and GPU is usually more important when it comes to gaming (as long as there's no bottleneck).

Look the system as a whole, not one part at a time.
Otherwise, the answer for best CPU will always be "i7 4960X" :D
But the reality isn't just budget for the CPU, because different CPUs require different motherboards which cost different amounts for different features. If you want to play games, you probably want to smend more on the graphics card than on the CPU.
Edit to add: Looking back that the start of thread, my son uses an old AMD 955BE for recording youtube videos at 720p quite happily. I'm sure it could do more, but I was trying to keep the encoded bitrate down.
Rendering seems to be increasingly done on the GPU not the CPU.
So really that list comes down to gaming.
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
Sacrificing one part for another is not what you should be suggesting especially when you have NO clue what GPU OP is intending to purchase, for all you know the OP might be getting a 295x2.
Pixl: Normally the 3570k is a better over clocker but it all depends on the cooling solution and the chip it's self since no two chips are the same even from the same batch. If you are going to be overclocking the cpu cooler is one thing you need to fraction into the budget. We will need to know your entire build specs to really be able to suggest what you should spend the cash on.
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
4690k is faster and generally cheaper than the older ranges (unless going second hand).

No-one is suggesting sacrificing one part of the system - they are suggesting ensuring that the system is in balance. A GT630 isn't going to play modern games at 1080p with all the pretties turned up, regardless of which CPU you have. A 295X2 is going to churn out > 60fps @ 1080p regardless of what CPU you have. An R9 270X + an FX63[5|0]0 is going to be a well balanced system. Without knowledge of the other components the OP intends to use, it's hard to recommend a CPU as they may end up with a system that simply doesn't meet their requirements.
Although if the OP is limiting themselves to a £165 CPU, I doubt they've managed to fit a 295X2 into the budget :p
But the bottom line is that discussion of the CPU in isolation is pretty pointless - a PC is more than the sum of its parts...

Not spending as much money on one part so you can get another one is sacrificing one of the parts for the other. If you have a 295x2 and a dual core you're not going to hit 60fps in any modern game all you'll be doing is creating a bottleneck. Obviously that combo will be well balanced but what has that got to do with anything? That was my point if you don't know the other parts you can't really pick what CPU OP should buy.
Re: AMD FX 8350, i5 3570k or i5 4670k?
I am not an adult btw, so yeah... I have a low budget and not going to bother changing my GPU atm, it ain't the best, but I am keeping my GTX 550 Ti for the moment. I will save up later for a better gpu but I want to keep a decent cpu as the gpu is still not terrible considering it's age.
When I said BF4, I was imagining that I had a beast GFX card anyways, so I want to know what the cpu's are like in stuff ect.
