    4670K high idle and general temperatures

    H80i + 4670k idles at just under 40, constantly. In prime 95, I'm hitting 75 degrees stock clock and voltage. Overclocked to 4.4, with a voltage of 1.2, it hits 95 then throttles and eventually shuts down.

    It's set up as exhaust on my H440, and when it was intake at the top, it was hitting 81 stock. This seems way OTT, as my GPU is around 60 when gaming, and during some torture testing it hits 65, maybe 70.

    Same thermal paste used (Arctic MX2).

    After a little while on Prime, stock clocks temps are at 81 degrees.

    Don't use prime. It uses AVX instructions that really hammer Haswell. If using adaptive or offset voltage it also forces it to draw a extra 0.1v over whatever you have set it to further increasing heat. if you want to stress test use Asus realbench.

    -Turn off XMP (memory)
    -Run the Intel XTU (below) to check reported TDP, adjust Bios settings in XTU (Core Voltage, Core Voltage Offset, Turbo Boost Power Max, Turbo Boost Short Power Max, and Processor Current Limits) to make sure reported TDP is lower than 88 Watts

    They suggest
    core 1.1v,
    dynamic offset 0
    Turbo boost Short power max 110W
    Turbo boost power max 88W
    processor current limit 105A

    Using the above benchmark (RealBench) it hit 60 degrees at stock clocks.

    For the Intel Extreme Testing Utility, it said there was no download available.

    Are the temps high with the stock cooler? Have you tried re-seating it? Since the H80i comes with a (from my experience) crummy layer of paste that didn't make contact across 1/4 of the place with the way their mounting system works. The temperatures seem slightly higher than I was getting in gaming, and a fair bit higher at idle.

    It'll be hard if not impossible to tell if the CPU or H80i is at fault without a stock, or any other cooler. Intel won't replace your CPU because the temperature's a bit high, they'll only act if it's throttling at stock settings when you're using the stock cooler. Corsair might replace the H80i, but they might ask for temps with the stock cooler, or even say that the temps are acceptable.

    On another note, you're able to OC higher with an H80i that might be faulty than I am with a H105 and a crummy 4670K, be glad

    On my old CPU I was getting very similar temperatures, so I can only presume it's the cooler.
