    Best bang-for-buck CPU for X-Plane 11

Hi everyone, I'm (re-)looking to spec and price a new Windows PC solely to play X-Plane 11 on. I did embark on a project a couple of years ago to do a similar thing but that never happened due to costs involved.

The X-Plane site states the following CPU that's recommended for X-Plane 11:

    • CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K at 3.5 ghz or faster

A quick look on Scan and a this CPU would cost about £216. Is there better value out there that will give me more performance for the same or lower cost?

Right now the Ryzen 1600 is the one to beat for £200 generally but a lot of games are limited to 2-4 cores and the i5 models come out ahead as they're faster per core.

The 6000 series have been tweak slightly to create the 7000 series so you'd probably go for a 7600k if the prices are the same but there's nothing substantially faster available for that workload for any price.

Yes indeed, I've priced up an i5 7600K as there doesn't seem to be a lot better for general gaming at that £200 price point.
