So my main rigs Steel Legend B450M means I'll be waiting until next year, which will hopefully by that time will have seen the second hand market reset enough to give me a decent 2000/5000 series GPU and a Ryzen 7 3000 series CPU for decent money.

I think my next upgrade is going to be a monitor so will adjust my performance requirements based on that as my, probably, 10-year-old monitor is due to be replaced..

so is the time to buy now and get 3000 series for better bang-for-buck? I'd been telling my rellies to wait but this doesn't sound great. Suddenly that £480 for my 3900x doesn't seem so bad after all. (and you can currently get it for £390)

Next year we might have to contend with addition pricing pressures too!

The Ryzen 9 3900 non-X is £325 on AWD-IT in a bundle. The Ryzen 5 3600 is £160. Both bundles come with an SSD.

You could wait a few weeks and see if AMD will have lower priced models, but it does seem Zen2 is better value.

I was just looking at those. I want ECC ram (limits me to Asrock or Asus), 4 dimm slots and some heatsinking on the VRM so the cheapest seemed to be:

    https://www.awd-it.co.uk/amd-ryzen-9...pu-bundle.html

Might annoy purchasing as well to introduce a new supplier, but the 3900 seems strangely hard to source.

Edit: Yeah I thought that was an iffy price. Scan will sell me a 3900X on the same motherboard for less.
