Slap in something like this, and you might get a cheaper motherboard with better wifi:

    £25 Wifi Card https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-WB...dp/B07FBSV1XZ/

Edit: And you have posted while I was typing. Looks a decent build, let us know how you get on.
    Haha yeah thanks.

My friend saw the motherboard and said to get it, so picked that up and then saw the 2600 this morning £18 less then 1600AF so thought it made sense.

PC part picker says there are no compatibility issues now and I can used my oculus quest 2 via the front usb type c port.

Only kicker is the case is on back order and may not be here next week when all these parts arrive.

Amazon have the non rgb one for 79.99 but for the 87.99 I get 3x sp120 rgb pro's.

Yes, the 128 is just a boot drive. I'm looking for at least a 500gb or 1tb drive to go with for it games and work etc. But its not essential right now. Plus its payday next week.

I've tried to post today but keep getting a message stating it needs to be moderated.

Since this post yesterday I was able to get the Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING for £104 from Amazon, which whilst its an "open box" from their warehouse sales, if I have any issues its easily returned to them. This board also has the front panel usb type c connecter on the board.

I was also able to get an open box 2600 for £110 on ebay that was bought in December. The seller has forwarded me their receipt in case I have any issues, but I will still have eBay protection if its DOA.

So current build is looking like this:

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor (Purchased For £110.00)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard (Purchased For £104.00)
    Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (Purchased For £77.05)
Storage: Western Digital Green 120 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (Purchased For £10.00)
Case: Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case (Purchased For £87.99)
Power Supply: Corsair CXF 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (Purchased For £74.69)

    Total: £463.73
£110 for a Ryzen 5 2600 with the receipt is a far better price - I had one until last month myself. A small review I did of mine:
    https://forums.hexus.net/pc-hardware...ml#post4020716

BTW,you can get the TX 650M for £80,so perhaps try changing the order to that?? The RM 650W can be had for similar money too:
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/cor...r-shop-3646222

Add the code TEO,and it comes to £79ish.

I did find some Crucial Ballistix RGB RAM for similar money which would have been a better choice, but it has already gone out of stock.

Id agree on the 10400 being a good deal. How well the performance on the 11400 will be though is still to be seen.
The B560 will support RAM now being run at XMP too. So I can see the Core i5 11400F being a solid upgrade over the Core i5 10400F, especially on cheaper B series chipsets.

I used the code the TEO which put the rx650f at the price listed. and was free postage.

All prices above are what I've paid now.

I'm just hoping the board was good value for what I've paid but as no one has said otherwise and I cant find a board with the internal usb type c header, I think I did will.

The case is also proving to be difficult as it may not arrive any time soon.

The RM has the advantage of Gold efficiency and a 10 year warranty. Also as you are more likely to point the PSU fan downwards, the lighting won't make as much of a difference,as opposed to the RAM,fans, motherboard, etc.

Gigabyte has UK based RMA AFAIK,and there was even a CS chap from Gigabyte who was on OcUK forums:
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/forum...iga-man.78904/

Amazon Warehouse is apparently "different" to the main Amazon website,so not sure how warranty claims go through them. But generally if a product isn't as described its easy to get a refund or maybe some extra money off. However,I have used them too for parts in my build, since you can get some great deals.

Yeah ive been told by a few people to go gold but honestly whilst the builder in me says face it down, the case has venting to point it up. Ive done some research and it doesnt make a huge difference to thermals but I'll keep any eye on them.

Its the way the cases are orientated. So you usually have a cooling vent directly under the PSU location(with a fan filter),which sucks in cool air from the bottom and vents it through the back. You can run the fan pointed upwards, which is how some mini-ITX cases work, but its done primarily to act as an exhaust fan for warm air in the case. So in one way your case will cool better, but the issue is the PSU will just run hotter, spin up fans more, etc especially as the GPU will be right above the PSU in most cases. If you are using a blower style cooler it won't matter, but most GPUs use axial fans.

Yeah I was aware of the fans running more ion some cases. I plan to go AIO on the CPU with the H150i at front in the next month or so. And as for GPU, until they come back in stock I have no idea what cooler they will have but the 4000x allows for horizontal mounting.

You will need to factor into the cost of a riser cable for that, but since its a solid glass side panel,I suspect the GPU will run hotter than it being mounted horizontally. I saw that with a build my friend did, which had a solid metal side panel, and mounted the motherboard horizontally. They eventually got a partial mesh side panel.

The advantage of horizontal mounting is also the front fans will be blowing along the GPU,which should also help keep the top side cooler. A lot of companies also seem to put lights, backlit logos, etc on top of the GPU too.

All the parts arrived today and I've good and bad news.

The bad news... The motherboard was supposed to be "like new" had nothing in the box except the board, no IO shield, no cables or nothing...

The good news... The 4000x case came with a commander pro and lighting node pro attached to it plus a bracket for the commander pro to go over the rear of the motherboard..

    No IO shield sucks.

I've tried 3D printing them in the past, which was better than nothing but didn't quite work, and clearly do nothing for emissions just stops paper clips etc being dropped in by accident.
