    Tri monitor selection

I'm looking to go tri monitor when I get my new rig up and running and was looking for some suggestions.

I have no buget set but at the same time I'm not made of money so nothing crazy either. Probably looking at 1080p. What are you guys running and how much did it cost you?

    Re: Tri monitor selection

Im using an Iiyama E2208HDD, nice but not the fastest I'm led to believe, and it did have to go back for replacement after about 8 months, but maybe slightly negative reviews are as useful as positive I guess
    Cheers, David

    Re: Tri monitor selection

So would you recommend against it after owning it?

Are you running tri screens yourself, if so how badly does the bezel get in the way? Only ask because the two monitors I'm using currently have a huge bezel and can get annoying at times.

    Cheers

    Re: Tri monitor selection

Difference with a tri monitor setup to dual monitors is that the bezel isn't going to be in the middle of the screen - it'll be a third and two thirds of the way across. I'd guess that would make it less noticeable.

I'm running dual monitors (2x23" Dell Screens) and I must admit I'd struggle on even a reasonably large desk to fit a third. I'd almost be tempted to go for something like the 30" Dell, and add a second, smaller monitor in portrait to the side of it. Then I'd game just on the 30" Dell. That said, Eyefinity and the like seem to make tri-screen gaming a reality - I just wonder whether I'd still get annoyed with the Bezels.

    Re: Tri monitor selection

I hadn't thought about desk space. I'll get a tape measure out later and see how much room I would have.

Suppose I would have to get a 680 or sli something cheaper to power it anyway. Maybe I'm better off getting a single decent monitor and upgrade at a later date? Hmmm

    Re: Tri monitor selection

I have 3 HP LA2405wg's monitors that I brought over eBay, the cost was £150, £185 and around £225 which is awesome since these monitors are 24" with a resolution of 1980x1200 with Display Port.

Currently am only using two for the side monitors while I use a HDTV for my center.

    Re: Tri monitor selection

Do you use those for gaming? Or just extra desktop space?

If you do game on them, how annoying are the bezels? Or don't you notice them much?

Hey, I have 3 Benq G2222HDL's 1920x1080 which I picked up for £100 ea so not bad. They have quite a thin bezel and the quality is pretty good too although there is a small amount of bleeding occasionally on the text.I don't really notice the bezels although at first you will but after a week of continuous use it will become normal and you won't realise it as much. As for the desk space remember that you can tilt the two side monitors to an angle so it won't necessarily be 3x the width of the monitor.

Just for reference I currently run the screens on an i5 650 with a 6950 2GB, it will run every game I throw at it but to get decent fps I have to turn it down.. alot. I'm looking into throwing another 6950 in there to crossfire it though and replace the 650 with a 2500k.

Good luck with the setup, you won't look back!

    Re: Tri monitor selection

I was running three LG E2350s for a while, but I was borrowing one from a friend and had to give it back when he returned after a brief stint away. I really liked running a triple screen Eyefinity set up on some games, on others it put the map on the side screen so it was harder to play those games on three screens. Glad I tried it, glad I stopped too, I think I'd rather have a single 2560x1600 screen than three screens giving me 1080x5760.

    Sorry for the late reply.

I use them for gaming, don't find the bezels annoying at all since you looking at the main monitor 90% of the time and even when you looking at the other monitors, it's not annoying at all, you soon forgot all that as you get in the gaming "zone".

When am not gaming, I use them for everyday tasks, normally my left monitor is for media playing while I work on the center monitor and the right one acts like a command hub.

    Re: Tri monitor selection

If you can, get one bigger more expensive screen (30" Dell UltraSharp comes to mind) and go for the single higher spec GPU over the two lower ones in SLI or CrossFire. it won't be cheap but will be far better then a tri-monitor setup for gaming.
