    3X monitor setup

I'm looking at changing over my current Screen for a 3x Monitor setup. I have a system that will easily play games in a 3 screen surround setup

I was looking at getting 3 of these screens

unless you guys can recommend anything better for around the same price. But I also started to think about getting 1x 3D screen and 2x 2D screens. Again this is the 3D screen I was looking at.

Do you think this is a good idea or bad. Am I better of with 3 of the same screens too keep the colours matching best I can or go for a mix and match sticking a 3D one in the mix?

    Re: 3X monitor setup

I've tried 3x screens and found it was great in some games but not so good in others. In some games the maps/HUD were positioned to the corners of the middle screens but most had them on the outer corners of the side screens, for me this meant I was not always able to keep myself in touch with what was appearing in HUD and it made the games harder to play.

Rather than spend £600+ on three 27" 1080p panels you might want to consider spending £600 on a 27" Dell IPS monitor with a 2560x1440 resolution instead. If not I think three of the same screen would be better, I know a few people that have 3d monitors but these all tried the 3d a few times and then never used it again, the novelty wore off too quickly.

There are fixes for that. Widescreengaming normally releases files or edits to fix the HUD, for example there is a fix for L4D2.

I didn't know about that at the time but had to give the third screen back anyway. For me I would prefer the higher res main screen and a second screen for other stuff.

    Re: 3X monitor setup

If you're looking at spending £600, you could almost pick up a refurbished U3011 (which is definitely what I would do)
Otherwise as people have said, single high res monitor, then a secondary one to the side.

Having seen 3 screen setups, while the raw screen estate is pretty cool, it's just far too wide for me for general use, and for watching videos it isn't great either.

    Re: 3X monitor setup

Hello again, just for reference the current screen I'm replacing is a series 7 samsung 40" led tv. I'm making that my main tv and getting the 3 screens so it's still something on the large side. But not too small that I can't use 1 screen to play games and just turn the other two off when I don't feel like using surround set up. These super res monitors are nice but to be honest anything over 1080 at 27" in my own opion is hard to really notice a worthy difference. So I'm really not interested in getting one of them just yet.

Also I have a media center PC for watching films and videos on so this is not an issue either. It's purely just for gaming and rev surfing really

And I ca. Still connect the 40" tv to the computer if I want large screen gaming.
