Question LG IPS234V or Samsung S24B300HL

    Hi,

Looking for a budget priced monitor mainly for coding and it has come down to these two.

I can't for the life of me find anything about the IPS234V as it's only just replaced the 235V. Has anyone tried this model yet?

Samsung is well, Samsung so I'm sure it'll be okay. Does anyone have any glaring impressions on this monitor?

Re: LG IPS234V or Samsung S24B300HL

It's late, so I'll try to add more soon and will leave a few points on the LG for now.

As the LG IPS screens are among the ones I've been looking at, I've noticed comments on the 234 only in the last week or two. Thought it's a tiny sample size, the feedback would suggest that the screen is good and if it's important to you, the stand remains as wobbly as previous models. At least if you poke it! I suspect that's true until one reaches a price a fair bit higher than these, though there's always a desk mount or wall bracket to solve that one...

I've seen a comment saying that the 234 compared well next to that person's Dell U2312HM, adding that black appeared to be better on the Dell - though no settings had been changed on the LG.

It's 50:50 so far on whether the on-off LED is eye-searing or not. It can be switched off via a menu, so even that's not a problem.

Re: LG IPS234V or Samsung S24B300HL

If its within your budget the Asus PA238q is one of the highest rated 23" screens ive seen on the market. And at around the £200 price point, it easily out performs its competition.
Worth considering, no matter what your budget it, IMO.

I ordered an IPS235V because I couldn't find any info on the 234, and the former has been well-reviewed. I'll update in a few days as to whether it's worth getting!

Re: LG IPS234V or Samsung S24B300HL

Just got my 235 and am very pleased with it so far. Didn't need to adjust the colours, but I knocked the brightness down a bit. No sign of the backlight bleed that some people have reported, and the viewing angle is great compared to my Dell TN panel. No issues with the matte finish either, it stops reflections pretty well and doesn't seem to affect image quality. The stand's pretty wobbly but that's probably due in part to my not-so-solid desk!

I think you'll be fine with the Samsung S24B300HL especially as it's just £119.99 on Amazon.

Oh I've just realised you posted this in August. Have you bought the monitor yet? I'd love to hear your opinion of the Samsung if you have it.
