    4K Monitor

    Good afternoon

I am looking to purchase a 4k monitor.
I have a shortlist of three, but cannot post any links, so have just posted the product name.

    1..Acer CB280HK 28" 4K Ultra HD
    2..IIyama 28" 4K Gaming Monitor
    3..AOC U2868PQU 28" 4K Monitor

The monitor will be used mainly for games such as Skyrim, Rome Total War II, Far Cry 4 and GTA V when released.

Would any of these be a wise move or should I wait until the technology matures ?

    Re: 4K Monitor

I would wait but a lot of gamers have gone over to 4K with mixed results if you are looking to buy today or the near future I would go for the second option in your list. (IIyama 28" 4K Gaming Monitor)

    Re: 4K Monitor

It depends on the frame rate you're getting now. I've found as a general rule-of-thumb fixing settings then upping resolution from 1080p to 1440p gives you about a 1/3 drop in frame rate and from 1080p to 4K something like 2/3. So if you're comfortably pulling 180fps in everything you're looking to run, sure. It's not exact as where you might use 4xMSAA at 1080p, you can probably get away with FXAA at 4K. One bonus of 4K is it can show 1080p without interpolation as 1 pixel becomes 4 so is not so blurry as displaying 1080p on a 1440p screen. I personally wouldn't bother with 4K at the moment, I've just taken delivery of a 1440p 144hz monitor, which I decided was probably the best way to go at the moment for a high-end system.

    Re: 4K Monitor

I think you should consider looking at IPS if your already going to spend that much on a monitor, i know its higher then your price range but the Dell P2715Q is quite nice.

The games you listed are all visual oriented and will pop with an IPS display versus a TN panel. i would be tempted to say wait if you cant afford an IPS monitor at this time unless you really need the fast reponse times.
