I've just purchased the LG 29UM67 from ebuyer (it's just dropped another £5 too )

It's a great monitor with a resolution of 2560x1080, it's basically (and obviosuly) just a 1080p monitor plus a third, height is roughly the same as my old 1080p monitor.
It has freesync (although my gpu is a 960 so will have to change that) and 'gaming modes' which I'd take with a pinch of salt. The width is something else, I play BF4 and it natively supports the resolution and for working on multiple documents or RDP sessions with browsers open it's great.

If you're looking at a mid range gfx card (380(x)) I'd recommend this monitor.

If you're building during Christmas time (and buying polaris/pascal gpus), a 1440p screen will be worth the purchase. there is a price mark up of approx £200-£250 for a 27' model but if you want to skimp on size and go for a 25', they tend to be cheaper and ALOT sharper in image quality.

If you end up getting a 4k set, make sure the upscaling engine is powerful and accurate enough to display lower resolution pictures well enough - they can look bad / fuzzy with bad movement.
