Help with buying a 144Hz monitor in black Friday sales

One of my monitors is dying (takes a few minutes to "warm up" when I turn it on before powering on) and so I'm looking to get a new one to replace it.

I play games such as CSGO and various other ones so I'm thinking a 144Hz monitor would be good for fps games. My budget would be around £200 or less (could go slightly higher if it's worth it). Ideally getting something from the Black Friday sales would be nice.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Forgot to add that I have recently bought a GTX 970 so would getting one with G Sync be feasible or even make much difference?

G-Sync would be great, but it's way over your budget.

You'd probably be looking at something like this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-g...mo-030-ao.html

Thanks for the suggestion Jim, it looks interesting! Are there any other potential options? Also what kind of budget would I need to include G Sync?

Not that I've come across with a quick Google - there are likely some older monitors kicking around that are 120 Hz, but with no FreeSync or GSync which would be a bit cheaper.

GSync would set you back £300 for exactly the same monitor: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-g...mo-022-ao.html

That one is a bit out of my price range, but I can't believe how much just having GSync adds to the price... I'll read a few reviews of the other one

GSync is Nvidea's proprietary technology. Monitors with GSync have a proprietary Nvidea module built in, hence the price premium.

Thanks for your help with this, I decided to hold off for now as the monitors I wanted to get weren't in the sales and might look to see if there are any good ones in the Christmas sales instead.

Why is that? Is it a general thing that monitors from those companies are bad/faulty or is it your personal experience?

Comments like this are really of no value at all, unless you can justify it either from personal experience, or quote a reputable source that backs up the statement.

Personally I know of no reason to say that those monitors are any better or worse than any other brand. However, even within a particular brand there may be better and worse models.

And if your experience is personal, a sample of one is not statistically meaningful

Re: Help with buying a 144Hz monitor in black Friday sales

I just bought myself a LG 27MP77HM monitor at 60mhz. It is 27", quick, has IPS 2x hdmi and matches a little the price you talk about. I paid 269€

144mhz was too far out of my price because my monitor fell out and I needed a quick decision for a 27"monitor, because I wanted that size again. (started up from 300€ up to 550€)
I had that trouble to look at too, but I think I had a good monitor with a great reaction.
Wish you luck and wisdom with your choice.
Maybe you go and see them in a store. It sometimes makes the choice easier.
Some prices from me to you @ 144mhz:
Iiyama GB2773HS-GB2 Black 319€ this would be my choice 27inch
    LG 24GM77-B Zwart only 24inch 307€
    BenQ XL2411Z Zwart only 24 inch 285€
    Philips Brilliance 242G5DJEB 24 inch 283€

I'll definitely keep these in mind during the sales, I'm not sure if I'm going to be getting a new monitor anymore though because ideally I would want G Sync and 144Hz but they are a bit out of my price range at the moment. I'll have to see if a really good deal becomes available
