There's always new stuff on the horizon.
Although right now the biggest thing to wait for is probably double DPI screens for ultrawide form factors. It's not too big a deal for gaming (unless you're willing to throw money at cards) but they might be worth waiting for if you do a lot of text work as well. Although that will be Quad 2560x1080 initially, I haven't heard any rumours of quad 3440x1440. That will require a DisplayPort 1.3 card.
Variable refresh rates supporting longer hold times (less hertz-equivalent) may also be something we see.
At the very least I'd wait for nVidia to announce what their position is with regards to the DisplayPort Adaptive Sync standard (aka Freesync). If they announce that they're supporting it on the release of the new cards in a couple of months then it would feel like a mistake to have bought a G-sync screen that locks you into nVidia-only card purchases.
Its always a good time to by a monitor.
What do you use it for? Gaming / editing etc
No!!
Image editing on a curved monitor?? Emm??
Plus I personally would not buy a GSync monitor and I use Nvidia currently. The premium is massive, and you simply will have a better choice getting a FreeSync monitor anyway. There are some interesting things like HDR,etc AMD has announced too.
Now, there's always a 'coming soon' but not a massive amount in the immediate future regarding monitors (that'll be affordable anyway).
Take the plunge and go 21:9
