Desk VESA mount for 34" Widescreen

I am looking to purchase a 34" Widescreen monitor soon, but all of the choices I'm considering come with very deep "poncy" stands which are useless to me. They will all push the monitor too far forward on the desk. Therefore I will almost certainly need a desk attached VESA mount, but I need it to hold the monitor LOW and FAR BACK, close to / level with the back of the desk. I have no requirement to pull the monitor forward / far up.

    Any good recommendations ?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes - don't have your monitor low to the desk Ergonomically it's very poor, so unless you've been given specific advice and good reasoning for that set up I'd avoid it.

I'd imagine that most Vesa mounting arms would meet your requirements - as long as the monitor and arm have the same mounting layout, the size of the monitor is basically irrelevant (particularly if you go for a height adjustable one). Otherwise they're much of a muchness, so just grab whichever is cheapest.

Ok. When I look at many designs it's not easy to see that they will fold back fully and low. Many look like they are bulky, have several parts and may "get in the way of themselves".

I will still have a few inches of space under the screen, but my office is in a sloping ceiling and this is simply the only way I can get the monitor far enough away to be usable. Currently I have a 27" 1440p monitor on a "normal" (sensible) stand and this goes back "just" far enough.

For reference my desk is approximately 75cm deep.

Ah, no options to change the desk orientation or anything then? Shame.

Have you considered a wall (or ceiling, in this case) mount? A short mounting arm with good tilt might let you mount the monitor off the sloping part of the celing and take up less space...?

Given it's a bit of a specialist space it's hard to make recommendations of specific mounts, as they might not work with the room you have available...!

Re: Desk VESA mount for 34" Widescreen

Here's a few pictures which I hope will illustrate better. I'm concerned enough about this to potentially drop the 34" widescreen and stick with another 27. Ironically this will mean that thanks to stupid stand designs manufacturers will be making far less money from me.

The first two pictures should show the sloping ceiling clearly. However this doesn't prevent me from working with my eyes level with the top of the panel.

The final image shows how far back the current "normal" stand is. Something that cannot be achieved with the X34 for example.

Hmmm, you might be able to get something that would attach to the wooden bannister rail, which would get you right to the back of the desk space. This isn't an absolute recommendation, but something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SLIM-FIXED...-/181931219719 might do the job: either screwed directly to the bannister or via some kind of home-brewed clamping system?

No screwing / drilling as I both don't want to damage anything and there's also nothing I'd trust to hold the weight. I really need a mount that will grip the rear of the desk.

Re: Desk VESA mount for 34" Widescreen

I have a bit of an odd suggestion, but the ASUS ROG PG348Q is on my mind as I was just talking about it on another thread. It's expensive, and highly gaming orientated, so that might rule it out for you, but it sits about as low as your present monitor, and the legs are configured in a three point fashion (see image). If the rear leg was to stick out between to rungs in that railing (which may look weird from below), then you'd still have a stable 3 point stand, with two legs on the desk, and the rear of the stand along the railing. It is still possible that the top of the monitor would rest along the sloped ceiling though, without every possible measurement I'm basically making intelligent guesses, however this avoids and need for clamps, drilling, arms, etc etc... Also, you could consider a 28" ultrawide, but that'd be less vertical viewing area than your present setup.
