    Metroid Prime :)

now THIS is a console game to own a Game Cube for

For those (like me last week) who dont know what's in the box, Metroid Prime is a "in robot armour, in space, shooting stuff in 1st person, stylee"

Well, that's what I THOUGHT....but Cube delivers again.

You look through the "visor" and can change what kinsd of visor, so scanning stuff and activating stuff is a quick change of visor. Shooting stuff is a different visor with a targeting reticule, and cos of Game Cubes stunning controller....is just a DODDLE

Forget trying to hit ANYTHING in Medal of Honour on PS2 and that ilk of console nightmare......this is console fast shooting, left click and taget, fire button , release left click target, re target again...shoot....

OK...so shootin stuff up...woohoo.....we want DEPTH of game play.

OK...well we have power ups, better guns etc.....

    no no no.....depth...DEPTH.

OK....how about a whole new concept (for ME anyway) where you get a power up that allows you to turn into a SPHERE...and roll.....like SONIC. ?

How about, even better, if you can see bits of new levels, but you can GET there cos you need to convert to a sphere and then ROLL backwards and forwards to get momentum to get up a slope? Power up the Sphere .....tunnels that you must be a sphere in....then transform back, jump up a ledge, transform to a sphere and roll through the next bit

its AMAZING and exciting....you see the places you WANNA go, but need to use the sphere...and that is in 3rd person. So youi get external. After a while I ended up using it cosit was faster movement and gave some better view angles.

Then the power ups on the sphere involve it gaining magnetism and being able to "stick" to metal tracks up and over ceilings

then back to shooting....or just roll through the bad guys

and monsters......LOADS...and some come in SWARMS. I let them crawl all over me to see....each individual little lizard geezer, tails plapping.....incredible.

Game Cube to the limit. It looks ace...and Pro Logic 2 earning its right to "nearly dolby digital" cos it works a treat.

Only a few places to "Save" and power shields back up,makes it hard enough.,

    And incredible atmospheric music.

I tell you ....forget Halo.....this is IT

Appologies to all of you already converted. And to you Deckard....I'm on my way to show ya

It is good, isn't it? I completed it a while ago, before I flogged my Cube. The last few bosses are no walk over.

Brilliant game, and as you rightly point out, it shows Halo up, for the bog-standard, completely average, and rather boring FPS that it is.

Prime is probably the best game on the Cube; maybe pipped for sheer fun-factor by the Wind Waker, but over-all, Prime is as good as it gets.
