Xbox 360 control pad and games... on the PC

After reading this thread, I bought an Xbox 360 control pad to play games with on my Media PC. It works beautifully, except for one thing... I can't pause the game during GTA Vice City (the only game I currently have that I can use a control pad with).

Is there any way that I can bind the Escape key (of a keyboard, for example) to a button on the Xbox 360 control pad?

My HTPC does not use a keyboard - just the Microsoft remote control and the Xbox controller (occasionally a mouse when I'm fiddling with settings).

Also, would anyone perhaps have any other recommendations for single player games that might work well with this game pad? I've got San Andreas on it's way.

Thank you chaps By the way, the pad is bloody beautiful.. it almost makes me want to buy a 360 right now, if I could afford it. Really, really nice size and shape.

You should be able to do it with a macro-application. My personal fav is AutoHotkey

It's a little time-consuming writing scripts for it (easy syntax though IIRC). I know it supports game controllers for a fact though

    Hope that helps,

Try these unofficial drivers . I used them when I was running Windows 2000, and worked great with LFS.

Thank you chaps, very helpful. I'll have a look at AutoHotKey when I can sort my HTPC out with a monitor (hard to script on a TV!), but I've got a temporary solution through the xbcd site. A program called mapper which allows you to draw out your control and assign a keypress to a button.

Splendid... the missus is playing GTA:VC as I type!
