    Gamespy - Good or evil?

Noticed that a lot of games try to install Gamespy arcade when they install. Now I'm of the unfounded opinion that it is EVIL software will limited functionality that you'd probably have to pay extra to get anything usefull of it. (much like fileplanet)

However, I've been having a few problems with America's army finding servers and wondered whether I should risk installing Gamespy, or look for alternatives such as All seeing Eye?

every piece of software that has asked me if i want to install gamespy arcade i've said no... i either use the inbuilt game browser within games (ie ut/mohaa/cod etc) or something like ASE instead, avoiding gamespy like the plague...

must agree, I use ASE myself and its great, I remember back a few years ago when I installed gamespy... seem to remember it was evil then and that is why I never install it now.

Yea gamespy sucks, only thing they good for is videos (like the GT4 vids (look a few threads down )). All Seeing eye pwns. I'd never subscribe though. I just use the trial version - cheap yes, but better than paying

Another vote for ASE - much better than Gamespy, which is one of the most annoying pieces of software, ever.

Why is GSA evil ? I used it ages and ages ago but then I lost it in a crash and just never got to installing it again. Has it changed alot since the very early versions when it was just called GameSpy and not GSA ?

Anything that forces you to watch adverts and not skip them can't be good.

not true really, there arent any adverts, its just when you scan servers it usually pops up saying that the free scanning server is at full load and the servers have to be pinged the old fasioned way. you wouldnt get this when its registered you get to use the pay server and its all much faster.

I actually used to chat to K on hashnet before it started sucking on there because of over zealous op`s. some of the earlier versions were full of bugs but I would switch back if he has it all sorted.
