    Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii

Ok, so Mr Spontaneous decided to pop round today so I need a quick fire:

    Xbox 360 @ £290 with 4 games inc PGR3 and GearsOfWar @ play.com

    Or

    Nintendo Wii @ £180

I'd personally say 360, simply because the wii becomes novelty and boring after like a month...

The Wii is ace, but its a true machine that you want to play with a few mates.
I agree that the novelty wears off, but that is party due to the lack of games for it.

At the moment it would have to be the 360 IMO.
Good games for it, Xbox live rocks and just feels very polished

As Jo keeps reminding people, you should buy a console based on what games you want to play, not what the system is.

If you want to game all day and be merry then get the 360.
If you want to game when there is absolutely nothing else to do and want a quick fix now and then get the wii. With the wii you have to be patient and not expect it to be something it is not. I like it a lot but it does need games. Both are great systems though.

Well, I do live with about 5 other people... does the xbox have the same multiplayer kicks that the wii offers?

If you live with 5 people i'd go Wii all the time. I've had mine and absolutely love it single player but multiplayer is awesome.

I've also got an xbox360 too and while i've enjoyed the games, imo the PC is much more usuable for what i want to do. Wii complements the PC, X360 is too like it for my taste nowadays.

The Wii is fantastic with friends round. The 360 is great for single player and online multiplayer. Couch multiplayer is still good, but the Wii is much better at it.

As others have said, it's all about the games at the end of the day. I'd say 360, but I do want a Wii as well.

Live with mates? Want to PLAY with mates? Wii, no question.

X-Box 360 is better for people who like single-player (and don't have a good PC) or like online play (and don't have a good PC).

Or, let's face it, prefer superior gaming on their living-room (HD)TV. The 360 may be a poor man's PC in some respects, but it does kick ass in a couple of areas.

More on-topic, iamwhoiam, you won't miss a 360 much if you do have a good PC. You'll appreciate a Wii (with Wiiplay (for the second remote, as much as anything)) with those five mates living with you.

We have a Nintendo Wii in work and imo its just an expensive gimmick. Its good for having a few friends around and having a laugh at people making asses of themselves but i dont think its worth the money (not that expensive I know). On the otherhand, i have a 360 in the house and reckon its fantastic but the game catalgoue for each is very different. 360 is geared more towards the single gamer although Live is where the fun really begins.
360 is no contest and if you're not made up, wait until after the summer as there will be a big price war with the PS3 me thinks and it may come down in price.

i had a Wii from crimbo and got zelda and call of duty it was good for about a few months but then it all began to fall from their. It was just so boring, in the end i decided tosell the wii and buy and xbox360 i have had it now for about 3 weeks and it is awsome if i would you i would definitely get the xbox 360 due to its amazing online play and downloadable extras and its graphics and the selection of games on it. I dont see grand theft auto 4 on it for the wii
