Does anyone have any idea when you would start to notice games missing out frames?

Hmm, the jerky-ness and slow-downs in general. I wouldn't like a FPS under 30.
I just wanted to clarify i assumed 24 because that is films ect :S
Most people start to notice if framerates drop below 30, below 20 will feel jerky and laggy.
^ yea under 30 you start to notice...
for video standards - pal it's around 24, ntsc around 29
<30 is when i notice it, crysis for example if i have it on 8aa 1680x1050 all high i get around 27fps, noticable but when i turn aa to 4 its around 30ish
Cool, i'll have to purchase crysis... has anyone brought the full 3dmark06? or just the basic download?
DVD's use entirely different methods for displaying an image compared to PC's. This comes up amazingly often for a tech based forum
I find UT2004 unplayable online at <60fps

I like 60 for my FPS'es too. I can tolerate 30 on RTS/EVE and a few other things.
Generally your average framerate dropping isn't a problem but it's when you reach the level where you start getting tearing and jerking. 30 FPS would be perfectly playable in an FPS if it was a constant 30, but it wont be it'll usually be swinging from 10-50fps. Depending on what's happening in game and it's the slow bits you notice. Even when they only last a 1/10th of a second.
Depends on the game IMO.
I don't know why but Operation Flashpoing ran on my old pc at like.... 15FPS, but looked fine. UT99 though, anything under 60 was horrible!
Movies look OK at 24FPS because of heavy motion blurring I believe... just pointing out to whoever said that. Faster moving games like UT/Quake can and do benefit from higher frame rates... Crysis uses motion blur so maybe thats why it looks OK at lower FPS. Operation flashpoint never really had any fast movments so I guess the low FPS didn't matter/notice as much.
Yeah there is a different in a movie frame rate and gaming frame rate, I prefer 60 like many others here, in the case of an FPS, AFAIR World in conflict was not smooth below 40, yes? 60 was good for it...
Anyways, yes it should be 60 ideally but anything till 35 will do IMO.
