NFSU Problem

Ive just reinstalled windows, removed that crap that was XP and installed 2k, done all the updates, installed virus scanner and firewall and come to install NFSU, installed and copyed savegame over and updated to latest patch.
Load the game up select my profile and select underground and load the next race, as it starts to load I get kicked to desktop , I try again and the same happens, next I load it up and go to underground and select one of the other races open to me and that works as does the next race but the Drag race kicks me to desktop .

Im running a 9800 PRO, Win 2k, DX9.0b, Cat 3.6 (tryed 3.7 and 4.2 with no luck).

Any suggestions?

hmm ive reinstalled the game and reinstalled the patch and now I dont get kicked to desktop but im now getting lock ups mid game

I dont know but i kinda get the same, VPU recovery seems to recover the game but once it happens the first time it happens at least once a race, updated NFSU and ATI drivers, still happens though

Are you guys enabling fastwrites when installing your graph card drivers, this can cause lockups and all manner of problems.
If not, I personally wouldn't enable vpu recover, especially if you are planning on overclocking, I have found from my personal experience that it really hampers your overclock, just my tuppenth
