    Re: autoexec.cfg cs:s

WiFi has problems with packet loss, so I have been led to believe; this is particularily noticable in games like CS:S, in which it causes the connection to drop for about a second, and the game to look like it's frozen up. I have this problem in CS:S, BF2 and SA:MP, and I think it is because of WiFi, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Regarding rates, 2500 is far too low for rate; try 20000 or 25000 if you are using a fast internet connection. For cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate, you should try to get the highest value you can without having any choke or loss (use net_graph 3 to monitor these). You will need to do a bit of experimenting to find out what is ideal, but you could try 100 for your cl_cmdrate and 75 for your cl_updaterate assuming you are going to be playing on a 100 tick servers (if you play mostly servers with more than 12-16 people that is unlikely to be the case however). Note that cl_updaterate should be around 3/4 of what cl_cmdrate is.

A word of warning, this is just advice I have picked up from reading about it, and I have little experience, seeing as I play using default rates, which is fine for me (excluding the WiFi problem). You too need not change your rates neccessarily, unless you are experiencing choke or loss issues.

    Re: autoexec.cfg cs:s

fps_max 60 is good, because it's very difficult to tell if something is more than 60fps with the human eye and there is no need really to go above that as it will just waste system resources, which is bad if you have a piece of fail computer like me. You can use net_graph 3 to see network information and FPS.

    Re: autoexec.cfg cs:s

    I beg to differ the fps_max 60, I set mine at 103 on CS:S personally (don't ask why, because I don't know).
60 FPS compared to say 100 is very easily noticeable.
