    Action/Adventure on P.C

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to PC gaming (I'm going to build a PC soon) having only played games previously on consoles (virtually all of them).

I was just wondering if anyone would like to share their favourite or what they think are the best Action/Adventure games for Windows.

I like 3rd person adventure or action/adventure also with RPG elements. Games like Fable and Beyond Good and Evil or action shooters like Gears of War I have played and enjoyed. Also more sublime adventures like Ico or Mark of Kri. And of course all of the Zelda games.

The age isn't really important as I'm not too fussed about graphics - gameplay is the most important thing to me.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks

ps - I also like 'God' games - Civilisation for example

    Re: Action/Adventure on P.C

This is the Xbox/X360 board, but I'm sure the mods can move it.

Various Tomb Raiders might fit your description. I'm currently enjoying Two Worlds, which is a pretty bad game, but for four quid it was worth it. Phsyconauts is a fantastic third-person platformer/puzzler. Braid is a 2d platformer, but a good one. Mass Effect is a very highly polished RPG/shooter hybrid in third person.

Just up a level - the generic HEXUS.gaming is for PC gaming.

Doesn't actually matter, Microsoft gaming covers PC/Windows based stuff too, as you're not the first & wont be the last to post in here.

As for games, I'm enjoying Penumbra on the PC at the mo, cheap as chips on steam. Fallout & STALKER have what you're looking for but are first person mainly. Assassin's Creed should be a good bet too & the Hitman series of games.

*edit*I've asked for a gaming mod/admin to move it across

Well then, blooming change the description so the MS one doesn't say Xbox and X360 and the HEXUS.gaming doesn't say PC

I have pointed out that at first glance it could be misleading, it's a common mistake.

I wasn't being deadly serious, but which bit is misleading at a first glance?

Microsoft gaming covers PC/Windows based stuff too
If that's the case (which I didn't know) then the description isn't misleading just at a first glance, it's plain wrong no matter how many glances you take

Qualifies as Action surely ? and don't call me Shirley...
One of the best games out there IMHO, and runs on old kit and Linux too.

    Re: Action/Adventure on P.C

    Thanks for suggestions everyone.

Not a big fan of FPS but I have played Metroid on Gamecube (more of an adventure games in FP perspective really).

I noticed there's a version of Fable (Lost Chapters) for PC - looks good!

Mass Effect looks OK too as does Gears of War. I played it on Xbox360 - I wonder if its any different on PC?

    Thanks again!

    The Witcher and Dead Space.

Mass Effect is on my 'still to buy' list.

    Re: Action/Adventure on P.C

Mass Effect can be picked up for around £8-9 from either amazon or play.com at that price its a steal, finished it twice already and your actions in the first game translate into the second when it comes out. You can quite easiliy lose 20hours of ya life playing through it

Dead Space, again excellent a little too short for me but still enjoyed it. Best played in the dark with headphones on

If you don't mind the RTS genre you might want to look into the Warcraft 3 series, brill games with hours of gameplay. Their is also Dawn Of War 2

Others - Elder Scrolls 4 Obvlion, Universe At War, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Jade Empire Special Edition, Grid, Bioshock.
