Don't get resistance 1 or 2 whatever you do though, it's like going back to the 90s....
Everyone has pretty much covered the good ones, Uncharted 1/2 are a must have for a PS3 owner

Well, it is like a 90s shooter though isn't it? (and I only really play shooters)...tried both of them for fairness, both cack-in-a-basket

I mean in terms of gameplay (spot on directhex) and graphics, I had heard good things & was totally underwhelmed by gamplay, originality & graphics, it was just all (IMO) so dated
Killzone for different reasons, beautiful graphics but the input lag was painful (patched version) & I got a bit bored after a while, did I mention input lag?
Now, Blue Toad Murder Files, there's a fun game (although only upto the 2nd one so far!) Passes the time nicely & has better graphics than Resistance
I hated the demo of Resistance 1 tbh, never tried Resistance 2.
Mind you, I also hated MGS4, so maybe I'm just out of touch.
LittleBigPlanet is a bit overrated I thought... it's fairly fun, and it's one of only two games my girlfriend will play on the PS3 (Buzz Quiz being the other). So yeah, it has its plus points but I never sit down and think "I'd like to play LBP now."

back on topic as for mgs4 i liked it but not as much as mgs3.
Also uncharted 2 multiplayer is awesome
its worth it just for Uncharted and uncharted 2 and of course GT if ti ever comes out.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I'll have to pick a few up (indeed Ratchet & Clank sounds interesting) after exams are all over and done with
Big Dave has not replied back, so I can only assume he has been playing all these PS3 games solidly for the last ~20 hours
