Am i the only one who isn't looking forward to doom 3 anymore?
Half-life 2 in my books is shaping up to be FAR superior, and valve have been really nice to us releasing demo movies aplenty

I've never been looking forward much to Doom 3, I am hoping that Half-Life 2 will have a great plot, i'm not overley obcessed with fancy graphics which force me to upgrade. I mean come on Half-Life was a hit and it runs on practically any system and it doesn't look too bad at all in high resolutions.

I only hope they have concentrated on the plot over graphics for HL2, Doom3 however, I just have the image of the game consisting of one brown walled room with a horrifingly real looking monster that has ever possible detail on it, then another one comes along and woops your gfx card commits suicide... I hope I am proved wrong...

Half life is 5 years old tho they gotta have the potential to be beautiful nowadays, otherwise why would people buy the 9800pro etc etc. And dammit, doom3 will be the mac daddy... till HL2.
still hopeful of a M-player patch for D3, but i think HL2 will spank D3 pretty fast, shame some of my earliest memories of PC's were DM on Doom1 at night, scared to death
Lets see the CyberDaemon in D3.. when we see that i think we'll have a few people convert to the right cause..

*meh* I never really got into the Doom/Quake games (prolly because I was playing them on a Sega Saturn seeing as I am a relative n00b and only have about 8 years computing experience) my starting point was probably Duke Nukem 3D and Guardian Heroes on the SS.

Having said that, I do have fond memories of Operation Wolf on the MasterSytem with a lightgun, sadly i'm not old enough to have experenced Doom in the beginning of an era...

It did not run on practically every system when it first came out. I bought it on the release day and I remember it being very power hungry game indeed.

I too bought it on the day it came out and it ran perfectly on my system (althought I can't remember what that was at the time, Voodoo 3 2000, Celeron 333 IIRC, 64mb ram) /me digs up specs

    Min Specs:

    Win95/98
    Pentium 133+
    24mb RAM
    Double Speed CDROM
Half-Life supports a variety of 3D cards although one is not required.

^Taken from the original CD case, I had a system in 1996 that met those specs, and i think HL was released in 1998 (correct me if i'm wrong) so erm, what were you running in 1998?!

It would run yes, but played like rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe

    had a K6-3 450 and a SLI Voodoo 2's

Don't think the Voodoo 3000 was out at the time.

    GLquake.... mmmmmm

I'm also happy that both HL and quake3 are delayed as at the moment there arnt really any particularly inviting mid range cards to upgrade my 1 year+ old GF4Ti too. Plus I dont really fancy shelling out for a new card yet either, though I know I will do as soon as these 2 games hit the shelves.
