Should I buy an X Box?

I'm thinking of buying an X Box, but am looking for some feedback from people on this site.

I enjoy FPS games, and think the controllers are excellent. Does anyone have pointers they can give me? Thanks

I have an xbox and think its a great console, plenty of good quality games and the online play is great.

    BUT

For FPS you really cant beat a PC. I mainly use my xbox for racing (arcade) games and fighting games. For FPS it PC every time, especially online games like DoD, CS and the myriad of other mods and games. Also PC games can be got for half the price of console games, so you can basically try 2 for every console game. Also there are a huge number of mods for many PC games so you should be able to find something.

So would I recommend getting an xbox, yes they are a great console. If your mates come around get out Halo and have a grin. Or beat them up in Mortal Kombat or race against them in PGR2 or NFSU. But if you want hours of intense FPS get adsl and reasonable PC. You coule build a good PC for the price of ten console games.

ummm you have a PC..why do you want an Xbox????? Nothing thats on Xbox cant be had on PC..lest halo 2 but that will be on pc not long after xbox rls too.

If your after a console for its multi mate thrashing purpose then a PS2 of Gcube is the way to go. Plenty of great multiplayer games for them, both with nice small controllers rather than the Xbox;s uncomfortable behemoth.

the ONLY reason why I would consider getting an xbox would be to put linux on it and laugh at the irony or running linux on an M$ console. then I would sell it as its useless =0

Ther are some really good multiplayer games on xbox and I personally find the controllers to be great. For some reason (for me) the big one is best for driving and small one is best for fighting. If you have adsl then you can get xbox live and play many games online, the cost is £30 a year (amazon deal this year).

Think a lot of people get carried away wit hthe latest and greatest with PC's a rig capable of playing just about any games doesent have to cost the earth, you dont need a £300 grafix card or a monster raid aray, the latest £200 CPU etc. A dont forget wit ha pc you can look at filth on the net whilst playing games, cant do that on a console can you

the xbox is definately the best console out there.
With arguably the best games too, It certainly has the best exclusive games.

And the whole live thing is brilliant too and so easy...

Games like Halo 1 + 2, PGR, Fable, Kung Fu Chaos, etc are all xbox only and are all great.

Also games that are availible on multiple formats are often a lot better on the more powerful xbox, such as burnout 3 and pro evo 4.

+ when modchipped makes a perfect HTPC

This is what I hate, people saying a game is great when it hasnt been released yet!!
But other than that, stick with PC, there is much more you can do with it, and your mum cant threaten to throw it out cause you might have to do "home work" on it..

There's many reasons like Fable, Xbox Live, Project Gotham Racing 1 and 2, Rainbow Six 3, the fact Halo 2 isn't even confirmed for Halo 2 yet so you could be waiting a loooooooooong time, a decent Halo multiplayer...can't think of anymore (I don't own an xbox y'see)

PS2 ain't that great for multiplayer, you've got maybe Timesplitters which is a bit long in the tooth now and Gran Turismo. PS2 also has a truely horrible online system and ZERO good online games. If you can't handle the Xbox controller you have small, small hands. But there's also the Controller S which is just as good as the PS2 or Gamecube controllers.

I'd get it myself...infact I was going to get a nice crystal xbox until my PC went kaput and I was *forced* to buy a new one. If you get one you NEED to get XBL, it'd be a travesty if you missed out on that.

Should you buy an x box?

    Yes - next question

Plenty of top quality games, a bargain at a hundred quid, and if you ever get bored with it you can always stick linux on there.
Im thinking of buying a second one actually.

HAHAH - yes I so agree

I infact repaired a bust PSU in a friends X-Box, man it's scary what's inside. Really..lame. P3 700 proc, bog standard everything else. Even the PSU hooks up via an ATX connect (just with the header re-wired)...

buy the xbox, i love mine!!!

dvd player, jukebox, 5.1 dolby digital, great gaming box

    all for £100

lets see you build a pc for that

and i agree, fps have no place on a console, unless you have kb/mouse

but still, PGR2, sudeki, fable, halo 2, and countless other really decent games

    cant go wrong
