This was one of the reasons I got an XBox 360 some time ago, but then after trying a few games and maybe playing a total of 20 hours on my XBox, I never played another game on it again. The main reason was I found games hard to play using a controller, I feel in nearly all cases a keyboard and mouse was easier to play with with racing games being the only real exception to that. It makes a great media centre though, so I'm happy with that.

    Really?

I find my X360 disturbingly irritatingly noisy when a disk is running, and it's a relatively late model, not one of the notorious ones.

The only game I ahd trouble with sometime is the call of duty series while playing multiplayer, otherwise I loved using the controller for some games.

I take it you mean you would pick the xbox one over the ps4 then?

I agree Saracen, the xbox 360 loud and noticeable if not using headphones, so hope there have been improvements with the net gen consoles.

Nah I would rather buy all those other consoles I listed before buying a Xbone.

Hmm not sure what's going on with other's 360's, but my sons one when he was watching a dvd would be virtually silent. Unlike when gaming when it sounded like a Dyson.

It's probably because it drops the speed of the drive down when streaming video or audio off of it but goes full-bore when reading data.

Re: Which console should I go for?

Yeah, can see that now, I misread a couple of posts I think and thought people were referring to the noise when watching films.

As for the noise other than watching a film then yes as I said its incredibly loud, I regularly had to clean out my sons xbox, fans, heatsink etc due to excess noise on top of the noise that it already made!

Could be. I must admit it makes so much of a racket on games I don't use it for watching DVDs, not least because I have 4 other dedicated machines that do that.

Are Xbox Ones loud when gaming or watching films?

Re: Which console should I go for?

I can't remember whether or not my PS3 was loud when gaming- oh, wait a minute yeah it was. So I guess I can consider silence from the consoles to be an upgrade and improvement for the next gens. Zing!
