I've only just managed to get the current one to run nicely Think I'll stick for a while, gorgeous as this is.

I love that they're showing off so many parts of Aviation that most people never even think of! I think I've done all of those non-military fixed wing jobs at one point!
I am sad that they're using the Beluga rather than the LCF for the video!

Get thee behind me, Satan.
I just finished saying in another gaming thread I don't pay full-price for games, but if anything was going to tempt me, it'd be this. I've been a fan of MS Flight Sim since, well, since it was in short trousers, really. The 90's I guess. It helped that I knew MS's Press Office pretty well and several versions just .... erm, arrived. Somehow, they knew and I'm sure I only mentioned it a couple of hundred times.
That said, my current "gaming" machine is a laptop and, while a pretty good spec for a laptop, it is still a laptop. For this, I'd want a desktop gaming rig and a nice big monitor. At my pace, by the time I get around to buying that, we'll probably be on FS 2034, never mind 2024. And Intel 17th Gen.

No chance of plugging the laptop into an external monitor? God knows what the GPU requirements will be however.

I just saw the news about the Dune expansion for FS2020 though, that could be fun!
Just come to post that lol

I can't remember if I've ever actually played any versions of Flight Simulator (if I have, it was probably very briefly and likely in the early 2000s at the latest), but I think I own Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition, so I honestly don't know if I'd enjoy any of them or get bored quickly.
My main point for replying in this topic though, was that I thought it was worth mentioning (in case anyone else was similarly unaware) that I recently discovered that there's an Open Source flight sim named FlightGear that has been developed for many years - even using something originally made by NASA at one point, with NASA in turn ending up using what FlightGear later developed as its replacement.
Oh, certainly. It's more .... at the risk of TMI, I use the laptop mainly laying on the bed. My 'office' (it used to actually be that, but these days I just call it that out of habit) isn't really geared for gaming. I need to declutter a smidge. i.e. hire a skip. Or two.
Then, I'll have the space to do a decent job. As for the laptop, 3080 but (obviously) a mobie 3080 which isn't really a 3080. Thanks, nVidia, it's all really clear. Not. And yup, HDMI something (2.0b, IIRC). I'm also reorganising the bedroom, and it's getting a nice big TV on the wall. But not before wardrobes, painting, etc.

I thought they were doing a 10 year+ active lifecycle with the current one.
The new one feels like they're adding optional missions & activities in the style of Truck simulators based on the ad.
I last played FS '98, and that was ahead of its time then.
Fun fact, Microsoft Flight Simulator is older than Windows.
I guess active lifecycle means patching and supporting third parties still.
I think there was a general assumption it meant no other game until a lot later.
The good news is this for existing owners:
