    Where can I download.....

    Counter-Strike....

And what would I need? I dont fancy waiting in a ridiculous queue that some sites offer, just because u dont pay to there already crap service!

So, what do I need to download? And where from? Any good links I can read up on?

I used to play it a few years back. Who still plays it?

I've heard of something called STEAM....?!? What is it? What does it do?

So many questions, so little answers!!

    Regards

    Nick

    right

Steam is an app that powers HL games. You run Steam (there are 3 versions, 1 with no games, 1 with CS/HL and 1 with everything). it'll download any bits you're missing & run them.

note u need a valid cd key & this is tied permanently to the email addy u use when u sign up with steam

as it stands steam is pretty buggy, but it'll get better - and it'll update itself whenever you run it anyway, so you'll always have the latest release

Ok, so do CS players regard this as a good thing?

And is it standard for most / all CS servers?

CS players regard it as the end of the world, and it's currently a standard for about 6000 cs servers. the other few thousand will have to shift onto steam once the old WON servers get shut down.

    :S

Is this being constantly updated then?

Are the download speeds any good for when you need to update?

What about if you are going into a clan match and you need to update, delaying the clan match etc???

Will this reduce the CS playing population? Or has it already? :/

Well acording to steam, the update speed is 200kbps, really its 40. CS population seems divided between the 2 atm.
