    Half Life 25th Anniversary Documentary

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the release of Half-Life we reunited the original development team to share their memories of creating Valve's first game.

I've not had a chance to watch it yet, but will be looking forward to it tomorrow afternoon/evening!

And just to note; they have made some game updates with bug fixes and new content

It's well worth a watch, made by the noclip folks, if you've never seen anything from them before then you're losing out, some cracking documentaries https://m.youtube.com/@NoclipDocs/videos

Brings back lots of memories, installed it on my steamdeck for later. I still have my OG HL disc and jewel case.

    aah, simpler times.

Re: Half Life 25th Anniversary Documentary

I wonder if my original CD Key will work on Steam...
Don't think I've ever tried it, still have my big box version from China via CDWow

Although for the sake of 71p can I even be bothered to dig out my box of games?

I started to dig it out but then realised it would be worth a little more should I decide to sell the original box without it being tied to an account.

Re: Half Life 25th Anniversary Documentary

I had to check eBay when I read that, thinking they can't be worth anything, I don't have the big box but I'd never sell it anyway! I'll save my copy and retire at 50 on the proceeds...

Re: Half Life 25th Anniversary Documentary

Just watched, very enjoyable. Makes me wish I was workong at a smaller company enjoying making software again... though not with the all nighters - has enough of those with a child!

Big boxes went out, but I've got HL and the two expansions in their jewel cases in the loft. It's one of my recurring ideas for a project, an offline computer to be able play them on from CD again. I wonder who would be the best manufacturer to get Windows XP drivers from? With Half-life 2 needing the internet (even in launch, I remember buying the disc and being peeved by the need to download a ton regardless) it feels like two games that span a great divide.

    Really enjoyed it!

It's good to see Gaben every now and again, always feel we don't see enough of him.
His short talk on "Realistic" could certainly teach a lot of developers today.
